Put your security online

Is it safe to get your security and locks online? The answer is that it depends on what you need and where you get it.

Over the past year, we’ve all felt more comfortable getting most things from an online distributor or retailer. Those restaurants that survived this Pandemic did so by transitioning to online ordering with pickup. Well, the same thing can be done safely with your padlocks.

Get information about your lock dealer online.

  1. How long have they been in business?
  2. Do you service the locks you sell?
  3. Can you customize your locks?
  4. Are they Authorized to sell High Security Locks?
  5. Can you design and manufacture locks and security systems?
  6. Do you have an online site, so I can order locks 24/7?
  7. Do they have lock experts on staff that I can talk to?

In these times the most important question would be the first question, “How long have they been in business”. Many people started web-only businesses last year to take advantage of the pandemic and the lockdowns we had. Most have no idea what they are doing, they are just “broadcast” products to you, the end user.

This may be fine for some types of business, but it could spell disaster for you. Only pick locks from someone you trust to be there for the long haul. If you call an online block, if you can call them, can they answer complicated technical questions? There are some specialized lock companies that can do this. Locking Systems International is one.

Buying a pre-packaged lock to secure your backyard shed would be fine to order from any online lock dealer or even a big box store. But if you’re protecting something of value or even people like your family, only trust a lock company that offers full service, not just sales.

Another security item that has changed is home alarm systems. These have been redesigned and changed so that the average homeowner can order a system and do the installation themselves. This also included central station monitoring. These systems can be simple or customized to suit the needs of the end user.

Getting your locks and/or security from an online retailer can be safe as long as you do your homework with that retailer.
