If you’ve been playing Modern Warfare 2, I’m sure you’ve witnessed a quick reach. A quick range uses a sniper rifle (usually the intervention) to kill someone at medium range. The typical way to kill someone with a sniper rifle is to look down and wait for targets to come into your sights. Quick scope, on the other hand, does not require the need to look down. Snipers usually run around, sniper in hand, in an attempt to kill you without looking down.

How is it done?

What the sniper will do is quickly tap the button to look down and fire the trigger simultaneously. Looking down the scope for a fraction of a second makes the weapon very accurate. When firing instantly, the bullet will fire in the direction you aimed at, using the full power of the sniper rifle. These are usually one-shot kills, which can be a huge advantage in games like seek and destroy.

What weapon should I use?

In my experience, the best class to use is a Sniper Rifle with the Intervention or the Barrett 50 cal. The most used weapon is the intervention one, although it is very possible to do it with the Barrett 50 cal. Once you’ve chosen your desired sniper rifle, it’s important to make sure you have FMJ on it. You need to get a one shot kill, because you will likely get killed if you don’t kill the other person with one shot. For this example, let’s assume you are going to use the FMJ intervention. Your secondary weapon can be whatever you choose; I normally use a pistol like the M9.

What benefits should I use?

With Quick Scope, there are a few essential perks that you need to have enabled. The most important perk of all is sleight of hand. This will be in the first batch of perks; it is essential that you look down the barrel very quickly. The second buff is entirely up to you, but I normally use stopping power. Stopping power in combination with FMJ guarantees a one shot kill 80% of the time. The third perk you should consider is using his steady aim. This can help fire from the hip, which can aid in your quick range efforts. Many people don’t like to use this, but I do. If not, ninja is also a very nice perk.

What equipment should I use?

Most fast scoped snipers use a throwing knife as equipment. If they fail the first time with your intervention, the throw that can save your life very quickly. It casts almost instantly, and always kills in one hit.

What sensitivity should I use?

As for the sensitivity of your character, it should be a balance between control and speed. You want it fast enough that you have quick reactions to people, but slow enough that you can control it in a matter that is very precise. When I’m not searching quickly, I usually have my sensitivity set to insane, but when I’m searching quickly, I usually set it one level higher than the “high” setting. I find this to be a great balance between the two issues, and perfect for quick scope.
