Body Thermage – Radiothermoplasty

You may have heard of Thermage, the innovative new non-surgical method of achieving firmer, younger-looking facial tissue without needles or scalpels. Thermage technology is now being applied to various other parts of the body and is producing exceptional results.

What is Thermage?

Traditional Thermage gives you all the benefits of an invasive facelift operation, without scalpels or needles. This technology is now also being used on problem areas of the body. Using ThermaCool TC with patented Capacitive Radio Frequency (CRF) technology, achieving younger, healthier looking skin has never been easier or faster.

The system works by sending radio frequency energy through the skin, gently heating the deep layers of the skin while protecting the skin’s surface with the cooling action of the patented ThermaTip “wand”. This heating action causes the deep structures of the skin to tighten immediately. Over time, the new collagen grows to further tighten the skin and produce a more youthful appearance.

What areas can be treated with Thermage?

While traditional Thermage techniques were developed to treat the skin around the eyes, jaw lines, and neck, Body Thermage is now used to treat numerous problem areas of the body, including:

— Arms – Body Thermage can be used to tighten loose, sagging skin on the upper arms as well as significantly improve skin texture and tone.

— Legs: Also improves the texture and tone of the skin on the thighs and smoothes the skin above the knees.

— Abdomen– Body Thermage can dramatically improve the appearance of your midsection and is comparable to a tummy tuck– without the need for surgery. Thermage also works great for women who have recently worked out, left with stretch marks. However, any subsequent pregnancy will obviously nullify the treatment. Stretch marks or loose skin gained from excessive or rapid weight loss can also improve significantly in the same way.

Who is Body Thermage for?

Body Thermage is perfect for all skin types and skin colours. People between the ages of 35 and 60 are ideal candidates for Body Thermage due to the mild to moderate skin laxity found at those ages.

Who is Body Thermage NOT for?

Radiothermoplasty is not recommended for people with implanted cardiac devices, such as pacemakers. Radiofrequency energy used during the Thermage procedure can interfere with these medical implants.

Body Thermage is not recommended for people using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and prednisone.

Is Radiothermoplasty safe?

Body Thermage was approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in 2006.
The FDA approved the Thermage procedure in 2002, originally for facial rejuvenation treatment. In 2006, the FDA provided additional authorization for extensive use of the treatment anywhere in the body.

What are the side effects of Body Thermage?

The occurrence of side effects as a result of Thermage treatment is exceptionally rare. In fact, the percentage of people who complain of unwanted side effects is less than 1%. These temporary side effects are usually described as red, irritated, or sometimes blistering skin and usually dissipate within 3 to 10 days.
